Menorca on a rented motorbike: Lithica
From our motorcycle rental company in Menorca we want to congratulate Lithica and propose a plan in our blog “Menorca on a rented motorbike: Lithica“.
The Lihica Pedreres project of s’Hostal de Ciutadella, has been awarded in the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra 2019 Awards, a prestigious European award.
There have been 25 winners in total for their work in conservation, research, training, awareness, heritage and education.
Getting to Lithica by motorcycle is very easy, we will find a detour signposted in the round of Ciutadella, very close to the exit to the road to Mahon. We found some quarries that stopped working in the 90s and that since then Lithica has tried to preserve. The deep excavations have created an artificial landscape of high aesthetic value that you should not miss.
In addition to the visual spectacle, they have a magnificent cultural agenda to spend the summer in Menorca. Pedra Viva Menorca is the summer festival with performances from July to September of intimate music, young music, theater, contemporary dance, circus and other performing arts.
We can also enjoy the route of the labyrinths, a guided tour offered on the second Sunday of the month for a price of 8 euros and 5 euros for those over 65, guided by Anna Bagur.
We can enjoy the spaces such as the botanical circuit, set of gardens to preserve the native flora of Menorca and with an educational and dissemination purpose. The medieval garden or the secret garden, nostalgia for the lost paradise or the circular maze of plants that is found in the heart of the old quarry.
We can not miss the mineral labyrinth that is the star of Lithica and that was created to commemorate its 20th anniversary. This labyrinth was designed by Laetitia Lara (Paris, 1957) with the collaboration of Nuria Román (Madrid, 1966) and Basile Ribas (Suïssa, 1988).
