Traveling through Menorca<\/a> on a rented motorbike<\/strong> is one of the best ways to get to know the island. Here we are going to tell you about a great route to discover<\/strong> the northern part of this area of the Balearic Islands.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The island of Menorca<\/strong> has an extension of some 700km2 being about 50km in length and 20km in width at its most distant places. The two most important cities, both in population and services, are Ciutadella<\/a> in the west and Mah\u00f3n<\/a> in the east.<\/strong> This island is connected by a main road<\/a> that runs through the middle, almost all tourist destinations are accessed through this central way, but there is a second road, starting in Mah\u00f3n towards Fornells that will allow you to get to the sightseeing places we will tell you about right now.<\/p>\n

After leaving Mah\u00f3n<\/strong>, and once on the road, your first destination of the ones we recommend is the S\u2019Albufera des Grau natural park.<\/strong> A natural area where land and sea meet in this marsh with a gorgeous beach, surrounded by dunes including a lovely and easy walk through protected fauna and flora in their close to twelve thousand acres of nature.<\/p>\n

The brackish marsh, with its fresh and salted water, also contains pines, holly oaks and junipers; once you meander through this vegetation you\u2019ll run into Mediterranean turtles and birds of all colours and sizes.<\/p>\n

The semicircle this beach forms is next to the estuary in this natural park and bordered by a woods. Facing the sea you\u2019ll see the Colom rock, protecting the beach and its clam and flat waters, shallow for the beach goers to enjoy.<\/p>\n

The access to the beach has two parking spots where you\u2019ll be able to park your motorbike practically on the sand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Following the same road to Fornells, past the entrance to the park you\u2019ll se on your right a detour to the Favaritx lighthouse<\/a>, the loveliest lighthouse to don the coast of this island.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t let the distance to the estuary\u2019s entrance fool you, this location is also part of the natural park. The views from the lighthouse, the lighthouse itself, and the slate surrounding the premises create a surreal, almost lunar, landscape.<\/p>\n

You can park your rented motorbike very close to your destination<\/strong> and even swim in a couple of calas with serene waters and rocky ground.<\/p>\n

As soon as the lighthouse comes into view and you start to appreciate its 50 meters, built in 1922, pay attention to a path to your right that will take you to the beautiful Cala Presili, a quaint beach you can get to after a short nice hike that will bring you to its cristal clear waters by a sandy little beach.<\/p>\n

Once again on your rented motorbike<\/strong> you will arrive at Fornells Bay, famous for its lobster caldereta.<\/p>\n

Overseen by a XIX century tower, Fornells has a bay that protects one of the loveliest natural ports in the Balearic islands. Even though the bay has no actual beach or even a cala, you\u2019ll soon see there are various spots to enjoy its shiny waters and go for a swim or even bathe in the sun.<\/p>\n

You can also check Fornells\u2019 many water sports companies to ride on boats, kayaks or even go for a dive.<\/p>\n

Your rented motorbike can be parked<\/strong> right in front of these same companies located in the same port that holds the best restaurants in Menorca.<\/p>\n
